Ebla Dakane Hassan

Visionary entrepreneur, beekeeper, and conservationist β€” founder of Ebby Farm and Secretary-General of the Garissa Farmers Network. She holds degrees in Environmental Science and Renewable Energy, and champions women’s inclusivity across agricultural value chains.

Through the Network she has united thousands of small-scale farmers (with women forming a majority of membership), supporting production, aggregation, value addition, and market access. Her leadership has earned continental and national recognition β€” including finalist status for the 2023 African Agribusiness Woman of the Year Awards, MSME Honour Award Kenya 2025 (Wonder Women), and National Best Farmer Award by the Ministry of Agriculture 2025.

"We must look beyond traditional methods to survive. Beekeeping is not just cost-effective; it preserves our forests, aids crop pollination, and builds real economic security against the climate crisis."

Vision & Mission

Vision

To be the premier leader in climate-smart agriculture and sustainable apiculture across arid lands β€” transforming vulnerable ecosystems into thriving, commercially viable, and food-secure landscapes.

Mission

To deploy innovative, flood-resilient agritech frameworks that maximize organic honey and premium horticultural production, while economically empowering local women, youth, and pastoral communities through shared knowledge and ecological preservation.

Specializations

Three integrated pillars that keep Ebby Farm resilient through drought and flood.

Preparing honeycomb at Ebby Farm

1. Climate-Resilient Apiculture

Beekeeping is our primary commercial and economic anchor. Structured beehives survive seasonal floods that regularly wash away traditional ground-level crops β€” delivering consistent annual yields.

  • Modern, low-level, high-accessibility hives built for high winds and severe weather
  • Long-term growth target of 1,000 active beehives
  • 100% organic branded honey for local, corporate, and regional markets
  • Expanding into propolis, bee venom, royal jelly, and natural honeycomb
  • Practices aligned with National Beekeeping Institute (Lenana) frameworks

2. Eco-Synchronized Horticulture

An intentional horticultural ecosystem that feeds both people and bees β€” maximizing pollen and nectar while supplying Garissa Town markets.

  • Bananas, beans, sunflower, tomatoes, and melons
  • Reliable fresh food supply for local markets
  • Continuous natural pollen and nectar to optimize hive productivity

3. Diversified Livestock Production

Small-scale, climate-adapted livestock management completes a cyclical agricultural ecosystem β€” organic waste recycled into nutrient-rich manure for the land.

Community & CSR

Rooted in structural advocacy and regional economic transformation.

Garissa Farmers Network

As founder and Secretary-General, Ebla Hassan coordinates over 7,000 farmers in transitionary agribusiness β€” training communities to adopt climate-resilient practices.

Women & Youth Mentorship

The farm hosts trainings for grassroots groups such as the Qahira Women Farmers Association, breaking gender barriers in apiculture and creating permanent local employment.

Ecosystem Restoration

Beekeeping preserves forests, supports crop pollination, and builds economic security against the climate crisis across Arid and Semi-Arid Lands.

Vision for the Future

Ebby Farm is scaling into a vertically integrated commercial eco-reserve β€” combining flood-mitigation infrastructure, automated hive-caging against predators, and localized high-efficiency processing for honey derivatives. Our aim: to be the premier supplier of pure organic honey and sustainable fresh produce across Northern Kenya and the broader Horn of Africa.
